The Harvey Miller Award

 

We should not complain about our fifteen seconds - not even fifteen minutes - of fame in the New York Times story about our great, good friend, Harvey Miller.  Buried in the story is the line:  "At an annual conference on distressed investing, his name is on an award given to a professional in the restructuring business."  That's OUR Renaissance American Management and Beard Group annual Distressed Investing Conference.

 

Recipients of the Harvey Miller Award for Outstanding Service to the Restructuring Industry have included Steve Cooper, Wilbur Ross, Jay Alix, Art Newman (in absentia), Tony Alvarez II, David Tepper and Bill Repko.  A recent New York Times article said that GM has hired an "All Harvey" team in case they file Chapter 11:  Harvey Miller, Jay Alix, Art Newman and Bill Repko.

 

At our last Distressed Investing conference held in November, there was general agreement that any bailout of GM should come as the government providing the DIP loan.  An All-Harvey restructuring team is our best hope of some positive resolution.
